Eco-Friendly Health & Beauty
Our bathrooms are generally full of all sorts of lotions and potions, from shower gels, shampoos, bubble baths to moisturisers and liquid soaps. Unfortunately nearly all of these come in plastic bottles. But, these days it’s very easy to reduce the amount of plastic we have in our bathrooms as there are loads of eco-friendly health & beauty items available. Of course with some of the products below it’s possible to make your own versions, but sometimes we just don’t have the time, nor inclination, to do that!
If you buy anything after clicking on one of the links below, I may earn a small amount of commission, at no extra cost to you, which helps to pay towards the running of this website. Prices quoted are correct at time of publishing.

Eco-Friendly Hair Care
There are so many great options for eco-friendly shampoos and conditioners these days. You’ll find lots of shampoo bars in ‘green’ shops. However, shampoo bars are not for everybody. It took me time to get used to them, and I believe you have to try a few before you find one that you like. For those who really can’t get to grips with shampoo bars, there are fantastic alternatives in glass or aluminium bottles.
All of the below are plastic free, vegan, cruelty free and contain no palm oil, unless otherwise stated. Read more about eco-friendly hair care, including hair dyes, hair brushes and more, or check out these eco-friendly hair accessories.
Check out more eco-friendly shampoos and conditioners at Faith in Nature, The Ethical Superstore, eTHikel, Veo and &Keep.
Plastic Free Shaving
There are lots of options for completely zero waste shaving, such as shaving soap bars, but if you prefer gels you can choose a plastic free bottle. Safety Razors come in a variety of styles at a variety of prices, I’ve included some of the most affordable options. I love my own bamboo safety razor.

You can also find cruelty free and non-toxic skincare at Green People or The Body Shop but they generally aren’t plastic free.

Love The Planet offer plastic free make-up (in recyclable tins).

Plastic Free Periods
There are numerous options for plastic free periods these days. The ones shown below are the reusable options; you can even buy reusable tampons now!
If reusable period products are not what you’re looking for you can get plastic free organic cotton tampons (with or without applicators) and pads from TOTM. Try WUKA for a large range of period proof underwear and swimwear (including thongs!)
Dental Care
I’ve previously written about how to have an entirely plastic free dental hygiene routine. I’ve included numerous options for toothpastes and alternatives like toothpowder and tooth tablets, as well as dental floss, mouthwash and of course toothbrushes. Have a read of eco-friendly dental care to see more options than the below.
